I set a goal to read 3 books a month and in order to do that I’m going to have to find some good books to read. I wanted to start doing a weekly blog post on the “Book of the week” which will be about one of the books I am currently reading. I’m hoping that you guys will comment back with great books that you guys are reading too so we can all share some great books.
The book of the week is The Power of Habit: why we do what we do in life and business.
This book helps you understand that the key to exercising regularly, losing weight, achieving goals, waking up early, and eating healthy relies on your ability to understand how habits work. I truly believe you are only as good as your habits. If your searching for success and a way to achieve your goals the best way to start is by changing your habits and this book really dives down into the science and reasoning behind habits and how they really work. It’s been a great read and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to make some improvements in their lives. Buy here
Quotes from the book:
“Typically, people who exercise, start eating better and becoming more productive at work. They smoke less and show more patience with colleagues and family. They use their credit cards less frequently and say they feel less stressed. Exercise is a keystone habit that triggers widespread change.”
“The Golden Rule of Habit Change: You can’t extinguish a bad habit, you can only change it.”
“If you believe you can change – if you make it a habit – the change becomes real.”
“This process within our brains is a three-step loop. First, there is a cue, a trigger that tells your brain to go into automatic mode and which habit to use. Then there is the routine, which can be physical or mental or emotional. Finally, there is a reward, which helps your brain figure out if this particular loop is worth remembering for the future: THE HABIT LOOP”
“there’s nothing you can’t do if you get the habits right.”
My quote on habits
“Life is all about the small habits we have, whether good or bad they add up to big life-changing results.”
If you want to change some things in your life the best way to start is by changing your habits and this book is a great guide to teach you how!
