Background on Chia Seeds

Chia Seeds have been known to aid the Mayan and Aztec warriors before battle or long journeys. They would have a pouch full of chia seeds at hand and take them throughout the day. In the Mayan language the word Chia means strength.

Health Benefits of Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are a great source of Omega 3s, fiber, and protein. In just one tablespoon, There are 3 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber. They also contain a lot of Iron, which is great to take before games or workouts. They are also a gelatinous fiber, which means when they enter the digestive system they remove toxins and other bad things in your body. The Chia Seeds attach to the toxins and other bad stuff and  help remove them from your body.

How to Consume Chia Seeds  

I love to add a tablespoon or two into water and the seeds expand and become soft and I drink it a few hours before competition. I also like to add them to my smoothies. If you are in a long competition you can make this drink:

2 cups coconut water

2 tablespoons chia seeds

squeeze lemon into drink.

Remember the word Chia in Mayan means strength.
